Getting to Nan

Trip Option between Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang Airport (DMK)
1. Free Shuttle Bus (if you have a connecting flight)
Eligibility: You must have a confirmed flight ticket for the same day to access the free shuttle.
Location: The shuttle bus departs from Gate 3 on the first floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Frequency: Every 12-30 minutes, with buses operating between 5:00 AM and midnight.
Duration: 60-90 minutes, depending on traffic.

2. Taxi
Cost: Approximately 350-500 THB ($10-$15 USD), including toll fees.
Location: Head to the public taxi stand on the first floor of Suvarnabhumi.
Duration: Around 40-60 minutes, though traffic can significantly affect this.

3. Airport Rail Link + MRT/BTS
Step 1: Take the Airport Rail Link from Suvarnabhumi to Phaya Thai station.
Cost: Around 45 THB
Duration: 25-30 minutes
Step 2: From Phaya Thai, take a taxi or use public transport to Don Mueang.
Taxi: 100-150 THB, 20-30 minutes
Or, use a combination of BTS Skytrain and MRT to Mo Chit, then take a bus or taxi to DMK.

4. Private Transfer (e.g., Grab, pre-booked car)
This is a more expensive but convenient option, with costs ranging between 600-1000 THB.
Great for those with extra luggage or a tight schedule.

5. Public Bus
Bus No. 554: Connects Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang.
Cost: Around 30-40 THB
Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours, as it makes frequent stops.
For most travelers, the shuttle bus or taxi is the simplest, most direct choice if you’re in a rush or have a lot of luggage.

Air

Nokair and AirAsia serves Nan several times daily from Bangkok Donmueang International Airport(DMK).

Train

Nan does not have a railway station. The nearest station is Den Chai in Phrae province, on the Bangkok to Chiang Mai Northern route. The ride from Chiang Mai to Den Chai takes 4 to 5 hours. Fares for 1st, 2nd and 3rd class are 194, 98 and 43 Baht respectively. A bus from Den Chai to Nan, a trip of 150 kilometers takes some 2½ hours at a fare of about 150 Baht.

Bus

Nan is well connected by bus. The bus station is in the Southern part of town just South of Highway 1091. Several companies offer bus services from Bangkok to Nan. Busses leave from Bangkok’s Northern bus terminal Mo Chit. The trip takes between 10 to 12 hours. Fares vary between 400 and 800 Baht depending on the type of service. Busses from Chiang Mai to Nan leave from the Arcade bus station in Chiang Mai. The trip takes around 6 hours. Fares are between 200 to 450 Baht for 2nd class to VIP.
